Probiotics are live microorganisms that can provide various health benefits when consumed or applied topically. While the research on the effects of probiotics on the skin is still developing, there is evidence to suggest that they can offer several potential benefits:
Balancing the Skin Microbiome: The skin has its own unique ecosystem of microorganisms known as the microbiome. Probiotics can help balance the skin's microbiome by promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria and inhibiting the growth of harmful ones. This balance is important for maintaining healthy skin.
Calming Inflammation: Probiotics have been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. By reducing inflammation in the skin, they may help alleviate conditions like acne, rosacea, and eczema.
Supporting Barrier Function: The skin's barrier function is crucial for maintaining moisture and protecting against environmental aggressors. Probiotics can potentially strengthen the skin's barrier, reducing the risk of moisture loss and improving overall skin health.
Enhancing Skin Hydration: Some probiotics are believed to improve the skin's ability to retain moisture, leading to better hydration levels. This can result in softer, smoother, and more supple skin.
Acne Management: Probiotics may help in managing acne by reducing the growth of acne-causing bacteria, decreasing inflammation, and regulating sebum production.
Anti-Aging Effects: There's some evidence to suggest that probiotics might contribute to a more youthful appearance by enhancing collagen production and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Wound Healing: Probiotics may aid in wound healing by accelerating the skin's repair processes and minimizing the risk of infection.
Sensitivity Relief: For individuals with sensitive skin, probiotics could potentially alleviate redness, itching, and other discomforts by calming the skin's response to irritants.
UV Protection: Some research suggests that probiotics could enhance the skin's natural defense mechanisms against UV radiation, offering a degree of protection from sun damage.
Customized Skin Care: With the advent of personalized skincare, some companies offer probiotic-based products that are tailored to an individual's specific skin type and concerns.
It's important to note that the effectiveness of probiotics on the skin can vary from person to person, and not all probiotic strains may yield the same results. Additionally, more research is needed to fully understand the mechanisms through which probiotics influence skin health and the specific conditions they can address.
If you're interested in incorporating probiotics into your skincare routine, consider consulting with a dermatologist or skincare professional to ensure that the products you choose are appropriate for your skin type and concerns.

Here are the effects of sleep deprivation on your body.
And when there are bad effects in lack of sleep, there are more reasons why you need to have a complete sleep at night.
However, too much may do more harm than good, which means 8 hours of good sleep is better than more hours.
Current research has suggested that more glutathione is produced when the body is asleep than during any other time. Also, there is evidence that higher glutathione levels result in better sleep, and sleep promotes glutathione production.
According to another study (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6389332/) Liposomal Glutathione increases GSH in our body and makes it healthier. Taking a supplement such as Japonesa L-Glutathione can help your GSH level boost.

]]>Before we start, we'd like to say that monsoon season is still a beautiful season despite several skin problems that may come your way, that’s why you have to read on this shortlist to make your skin perfectly healthy and beautiful during the entire season!
Wash your face regularly
Primarily, our skin (esp those with acne-prone skin) becomes sticky and oily during the rainy days that lead to clogged pores and eventually acne breakouts. Our expert tip is to provide your face with extra care by washing it 2-3 times a day to cleanse the open pores allowing it to breathe. Don’t go anywhere for the antibacterial soap with Lactoferrin and St. John’s Wort because you can find it in Watsons retail stores.
J-Beauties we’d also want you to choose healthier meals this season and avoid oily foods as they may trigger oily skin brought by the season. During the monsoon season, you might want to reduce frying and use healthier cooking methods like air frying, grilling, and of course the super healthy “steaming”.
Moisturize regularly
Monsoon season dries your skin, so if you're thinking of skipping your moisturizer due to all the humidity in the air, that is a wrong decision. Keep a moisturizer handy, but what’s more important is you wash your face with a soap that has MOISTURIZING PROPERTIES, like Glycerin. Glycerin is present in all handmade soaps like Japonesa® (so I can go with any handmade soap?, NAH!). Moisture should come with Collagen because it regulates the amount
of water to cells keeping optimal moisture levels. Yes, Japonesa® has both Collagen & Glycerin for the perfect 2 in 1 Collagen & Moisture action.
J-Beauties here are some diet inclusions perfect to maintain moisture on your skin, Avocado (fat keeps the skin moisturized), Oatmeal (which keeps you full longer meaning you’re less likely to eat sweets and salty foods), and Salmon (as it helps preserve collagen, fights inflammation, and keeps the skin firm).
Hydrate yourself
It is essential to keep ourselves hydrated anytime of the year and for any skin type, primarily because it leads to parched skin. It is also important to note that drinking water flushes out toxins making our bodies healthier in the long run. According to mayoclinic.org “Men should drink 3.7 liters of fluids per day, while women should do 2.7 liters of fluids per day.”.
Special Tip: Gradually improve your diet to Seasonal fruits, green veggies, and antioxidants that you can find in our Japonesa® Total Well-being, Immunoboost & Beauty Capsule powered with Setria® Glutathione, Alpha Lipoic Acid & Sodium Ascorbate using Zeal Technology.
Thankfully Japonesa® Probiotic Soap is present in selected Watsons retail stores nationwide. If you’re staying at home, open your Watsons app and just search for “Japonesa Probiotic Soap”, and we’ll surely be there! Stay dry!

Our #skinexpert talks about plant-based Collagen and Clean beauty.
You’ve probably heard the buzz about Collagen and it being sustainable, as Collagen is already promising as a skincare regimen, the best this about it is that it can be plant-based, that is why we took this extra time to talk to MJ Jamias our CEO & #skinexpert to discuss how collagen helps the skin to reduce signs of aging and the process of making it part of Japonesa’s #CleanBeauty initiatives.
First, let us talk about Collagen as a skincare product. Like in many literatures we already know that Collagen is a major component of our skin, the major roles of Collagen stretch from hydration, skin elasticity, and strengthening the skin. “As Collagen improves moisture over our skin, that in turn slows down signs of aging because it reduces dryness, the Glycerin in every bar of Japonesa helps Collagen to deliver intense moisture”, supported Jamias. Furthermore, our skin starts to lose its elasticity as we age, while every collagen product promotes firmer skin, Japonesa provides a youthful glow in just 7-days primarily because of its unbelievable combination of Collagen, Potent Glutathione (brighter complexion), and Probiotics (skin balance and UV protection).
Usually, Collagen is animal-based, because it is from a protein that is mostly found on animal sources such as beef or fish. However, we’d still want to ensure that we can find every possible way to take care of our planet, that is why our CEO find a way to make another innovation by including OKRA that is rich in Collagen & Vitamin C as a main raw material for creating the Collagen inside every bar of Japonesa, making us the ultimate #CleanBeauty alternative for anti aging soaps.
That is why we highly recommend that you use Japonesa® Probiotic soap as a daily bath companion to achieve that hydrated, soft, youthful, and glowing skin na talagang #KutisDerma.
Stayin’ home, our soap is available on Zalora, Shopee, Lazada, BeautyMNL, and Watsons online.
The abnormally high and unhealthy proportion of body fat is the general definition of being Obese, and while this is a health problem it is also considered a risk factor of severe illness coming from COVID_19. More than the belly fat and feeling bad about yourself, (we’re not body-shaming here, we’d always be interested to put everyone in their perfect health condition) being obese also pose a huge factor in getting cancer like breast cancer, thyroid cancer, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, and liver cancer.
With this in mind it is very obvious that we cannot overlook obesity and its contribution to increased cancer risk, that is why we collected several ways to lose weight or reduce chances of being obese:
Get enough quality sleep
There’s so much evidence on why people with too little sleep pose a very high risk of weight gain and obesity because sleep deprivation could increase hunger, giving you more time to eat, and prompts you to choose less healthy diets. Furthermore, lack of sleep will mean less leptin, knowing that leptin is the hormone that tells you to stop eating, you should be convinced at this point that one way of getting those flabs out is a good night's rest.
Our Tip: Bedtime rituals matter! End your day with a warm shower 60-90 minutes before bedtime, lather with Japonesa Probiotic soap, and enjoy the relaxing vanilla scent all over your skin.
Physical Activities for Immune System.
We’re going back to the point where we discussed that obese individuals pose a higher risk for severe illness caused by COVID_19 because obesity impairs our immune system. It is also important to note that COVID_19 patients have underlying conditions and most of them are obesity-related: hypertension, chronic lung disease, and diabetes mellitus. In connection, physical activities are being suggested to reduce chances of being obese or gaining weight is because it increases blood circulation and has an anti-inflammatory effect on our body.
Our Tip: Take 30-minute yoga, walking, biking, swimming, or any low impact exercises at least 3 times a week. Don’t forget to take your polyphenols (berries, cloves, nuts, flaxseeds, vegetables, coffee, and tea) and end with your daily dose of Sodium Ascorbate present in our Japonesa® Total Well-being, Immunoboost & Beauty Capsule powered with Setria® LGlutathione, Alpha Lipoic Acid & Sodium Ascorbate using Zeal Technology.
Eat Well.
You already know this at this point that dieting can be downright difficult, but the good news is that several diet foods are healthy and at the same time tastes perfectly well, here are some of those:
● Calorie Controlled Snacks
● Rotisserie Chicken
● Strawberries (smoothie)
● Dark Chocolate (wow!)
● Almonds
● Pistachios
● Avocados
● Yogurt
● Peanut Butter
● Watermelon
End every breakfast with our Alpha Lipoic Acid-powered L-Glutathione capsule
because it has an impact on reducing weight loss.
Our Japonesa powerful skincare products and health supplements are available on japonesa.com.ph, Watsons retail stores and online shop, BeautyMNL, Zalora, Shopee, and Lazada.

For starters, we all need to eat better, sleep longer (we’re talking about quality sleep), exercise, and maintain the lowest possible levels of stress, although here’s what we can do to help you gain extra protection against COVID-19.
Special Note before we move on to this article: According to medical practitioners the most effective protection against COVID-19 are the approved vaccines, and this is the perfect time to talk to your local government representatives to get your dose, as soon as possible.
L-Glutathione, Finding out general truths
First, allow us to establish the fact that people with reduced levels of Glutathione are at high risk of developing autoimmune diseases. It is manifested that deficiency in Glutathione levels is linked to severe clinical manifestation of COVID-19. Furthermore, it is also important to note that as a general truth, Glutathione plays a major role in decreasing oxidative stress and boosts
immune function. With all the general truths above, it is without any doubt that we require the right levels of Glutathione inside our body not only for brighter skin but for protecting us against COVID-19.
Alpha Lipoic Acid, here to regulate your Immune System
There is huge evidence considering the impact of Alpha Lipoic Acid on the regulation of our immune system, by providing the necessary backup support to all immune cells. Known to be effective to support the body’s response against the common flu and cold viruses, because ALA suppresses the production of inflammatory cytokine TNF alpha, it restores and improves normal function to immune system cells. Moreover, If enough levels of Glutathione are important, and so is Alpha Lipoic Acid, which can only be produced by our body at a minimal rate that is why it is very important to get it from supplements available in the market.
According to Respiratory Medicine Case Reports Volume 30, a study conducted by Horowitz, Freeman, and Bruzzese, L-Glutathione, and Alpha Lipoic Acid may block and address “cytokine storm syndrome” and respiratory distress in patients with COVID-19 pneumonia
Sodium Ascorbate & Glutathione, together!
Although we’re sure that you have been taking your regular dose of Vitamin C daily, this part of this article is to educate you on why there are brands who considered putting Sodium Ascorbate and Glutathione in one capsule. To state the fact that both Glutathione and Sodium Ascorbate are essential for good health, they’re also stronger together as they empower each other, as the
two supplements perform a “buddy act”. Furthermore, it is good to establish the fact that Sodium Ascorbate is perfect for acidic individuals.
At this point, we already know that you’re looking for that perfect supplement that can provide you with the right levels of Glutathione, Alpha Lipoic Acid, and Sodium Ascorbate in one powerful capsule, and you just came into the right place.
Aside from keeping yourself healthy inside we also have to follow the guidelines being released by our national and local governments to reduce the transmission of COVID-19, one of which is to protect our hands with regular hand washing while maintaining its moisture, keep in mind that Japonesa ® Probiotic Soap with Lactoferrin (Antimicrobial agent) and St. John’s Wort (Antibacterial agent) is available in selected Watsons stores nationwide and online.
Keep safe and stay beautiful!

Technically, an overproduction of oil by the sebaceous glands can cause blemishes, while it's defined as any skin mark, this article will only discuss Acne. Acne, as we know it, are pimples (zits), blackheads, whiteheads, cystic acne, nodules, and papules are caused by a scenario when sebum (oil), bacteria, or dirt clogs hair follicles. Acne is most common among teenagers (listen youngsters!), though it also affects people of all ages (totally!). We also know that another breed of acne (if we can call it that way) came upon us during the pandemic, and that is MASK-ne. Today, we’re putting an end to the age-old battle between ACNE & PROBIOTICS, by scientifically citing what Probiotics can do to your skin and of course to ACNE in general.
Probiotics for skin moisture
First, here’s a statement that we probably know at this point, “when your skin becomes dry, your body makes more oil, this extra oil may clog your pores resulting in acne breakouts”, that is why there is a need to establish if Probiotics has something to do with providing enough moisture to the skin. FACT, Probiotics strengthen skin's natural moisture barrier: If you've scrubbed too vigorously with cleansers and other products, probiotics help restore the skin's natural barrier function, which is vital to banishing redness, sensitivity, breakouts, and irritation.
Probiotics as skin protection
From providing moisture to eradicating external sources of irritation is easier when probiotics bolster your skincare (excited? read on!). As a skincare ingredient, Probiotics can form a protective barrier to keep away undesirable microorganisms such as “bad” bacteria, fungi and toxins, that may lead to the formation of acne.
microbiome to reduce inflammation, repel unwanted toxins and bacteria and guard against acne breakouts.
Here’s how to use Probiotics for Acne
Even PROBIOTICS are a very powerful skincare product, we should also look for a product that has the following ingredients to make sure that Probiotics will work on your ACNE:
● Lactoferrin
● Glycerin
● Plant-based Collagen
Oh, is that Japonesa® PROBIOTIC soap? Certainly, it is! See you next ish!

As ancient as it may sound, St. John’s Wort is used to treat depression and mood disorders way back during the time of the ancient Greeks, but in this article, we will unravel the skincare capabilities of this vibrant yellow herb. St. John’s wort has powerful dermatological benefits while also being gentle enough to treat adult and baby skin. Mainly, St. John’s Wort is rich in flavonoids making it a good candidate for repairing the skin (flavonoids are rich in antioxidant activity and can help you ward off everyday toxins).
Amongst the many reasons why we love St. John’s Wort here are 3 reasons why you should love it too, and look for the skincare product that is using this very powerful herb.
First, this ancient herb is found to be capable of reducing early signs of aging, primarily because of its power to reduce fine lines on our faces. To further prove this claim, a research made by Cell & Molecular Neurobiology, St. John’s Wort has antioxidants that combat harmful radicals. These radicals are usually known to accelerate the visible signs of aging. The ability to get rid of harmful radicals made it one of the best candidates for an anti-aging skin care regimen. Furthermore, Japonesa’s combination of plant-based collagen, and the moisturizing effect given by Glycerin, and of course St.John’s Wort, made it worthy to be an effective anti-aging soap.
Next in line is an important result we wanted our skincare regimens to take care of, “Exfoliation”. Although we are aware that there are so many brands in the market offering “exfoliating your skin”, we would still want to reiterate the combination of effective ingredients to maximize the results. While St. John’s Wort supports regeneration of human body cells, making the product a perfect option for healthier exfoliation, Japonesa also has Probiotics, making the two ingredients perform the best skin renewal that boosts and revitalizes skin with continued use.
As an ancient remedy, St. John’s Wort is used to heal wounds making it an effective antibacterial ingredient, while we have been talking about Lactoferrin as Japonesa’s antibacterial ingredient that caters to the reduction of acne and “mask-ne”, St. John’s Wort’s presence in every bar of Japonesa is such a big wonder for everyone in need of acne-fighting skincare soap or you can also use it as your daily hand soap.
Finally, as a traditional hint, take a bath using Japonesa® soap in the morning, and while it is one of the best skincare soaps in the market today, the St. John’s Wort’s capability as an antidepressant will raise your spirits up! Happy morning! See ya next ish!

Glutathione is the Master Antioxidant is in charge of neutralizing pathogens, environmental toxins, and carcinogens, while it also improves the immune system like Vitamin C. Vitamin C is also a powerful antioxidant that strengthens our body’s natural defenses, as we require all the possible ways to strengthen our immune system now more than ever. In this article we want you to realize how these antioxidants empower each other.
Scientifically, Glutathione & Vitamin C (in the form of Sodium Ascorbate) work as buddies in terms of providing support to each other. During the entire process, Glutathione cools off “free radicals” while recycling other antioxidants, sacrificing itself in the process. Vitamin C on the other hand, protects Glutathione in the tissues, while Glutathione converts worn-out Vitamin C back to its active form. Furthermore, studies are claiming that Glutathione can cover up for the lack of Vitamin C in the body.
With so much information about Glutathione & Vitamin C here are not so special ways to get it inside your body:
● Change your Diet:
○ Improvement of Glutathione production relies on consuming the following foods: Garlic, Onions, Cabbage, CauliFlower, Organic Turmeric, Raw Milk, Raw Eggs and Arugula
○ Vitamin C is vital for your immune system, that is why it’s recommended to consume the following fruits and vegetables: Kale, Spinach, Potatoes, Guavas, Thyme, Parsley, Papayas, Red Bell Peppers, Kiwi Fruit, Strawberry, and Citrus Fruits.
● STRESS REDUCTION: It is recommended to improve your diet to promote glutathione
production, but it is also important to actively minimize the factors contributing to its depletion. That’s it, STRESS can reduce the production of Glutathione in our body.
● SURPRISE: Take one capsule of our Japonesa® L-Glutathione per day for a complete daily dose of Glutathione & Sodium Ascorbate. Take note that our Vitamin C is in the form of Sodium Ascorbate, meaning it’s perfect for people suffering from GERD.

Preparing for that big day? We’re sure you’ve got everything covered from your bridal gown to all the reservations, and the list continues but considering that you will be the center of everyone’s attention, you should make sure that your skin is at its best! That is why we want you to take all the possible steps to make your skin glowing on your wedding day.
To achieve that glowing and younger-looking skin you should follow the classic requirements for healthier skin:
Stay Hydrated: Hydrating your body is the best way to hydrate your skin, while one of the most natural ways is to drink enough glasses of water per day, you can also use a handmade soap with Glycerin. Tip: Japonesa ® is the best moisturizing soap primarily because it’s handmade and is packed with Olive oil with hydrating squalene. (squalene provides enough moisture to the skin by balancing oil production).
Sleep for 7-9 hrs a day: Sure, Sleeping beauty had this one right! Lack of sleep leads to a reduction of collagen production and will result in poor skin elasticity. Tip: We know that there are days that you can’t find the reason to sleep more, use Japonesa ® soap daily to ensure that you have additional collagen, that is plant-based and therefore, healthier.
Stay out of the sun: We already know that too much exposure under the sun will lead to several issues but what we don’t know is that (aside from sunblock creams), Probiotics can help us reduce the impact of the harmful rays. Tip: It's summer and we know you might be tempted to go out, don’t forget to regularly use Japonesa® soap to ensure you have enough Probiotics all over your skin.
Look for an Antioxidant: We all need ANTIOXIDANTS to protect our skin from environmental stressors like harmful sun rays, smoke, plus STRESS. Though we are sure these antioxidants can be found in Glutathione supplements, what if there is one special capsule that has everything you need to protect your skin?
Tip: Check out Japonesa’s L-Glutathione capsule with Alpha Lipoic Acid (dubbed as the Super Antioxidant).

Along with these changes, we are more exposed to some external sources such as radiation, ozone, cigarette smoking, various industrial chemicals, and environmental pollutants, which causes our bodies to react and produce molecules with unpaired electrons called “free radicals” that are harmful to our well-being. Luckily, our bodies are also naturally capable of protecting us from the unhealthy effects of free radicals by generating substances, usually found in our food or supplements, known as antioxidants, that prevent or slow down the occurrence of cell damage. One of the antioxidants that have many benefits to our body is Alpha-lipoic acid, the Super Antioxidant.
Alpha-lipoic acid or ALA is an antioxidant produced naturally in our body and sometimes found in different health supplements. It is known for its functions at the cellular level as it is responsible for attacking “free radicals” and breaking down carbohydrates useful for energy production. ALA is both fat and water-soluble, meaning, it can perform its benefits throughout the body whether in water (like vitamin C) or fatty tissues (like vitamin E). Many experts claim that Alpha-lipoic acid is great for our overall health. It is very helpful especially for those who experience nerve pain due to diabetes simply because it lowers blood sugar levels and improves insulin activity. In addition, some research also shows that it decreases the level of cholesterol or “bad” fats in the blood that may cause people to be vulnerable to different diseases, that is to say, ALA also reduces the signs of obesity.
Aside from the positive effects mentioned above, some studies suggest that Alpha-lipoic acid may also have benefits in our skin health as it regenerates other antioxidants such as vitamin C and E to make them active again and protect us from ultraviolet light, air pollution, cigarette smoke, and other environmental factors.
Furthermore, it is also said that ALA lessens some signs of aging because of the following:
1. It protects the skin from too much exposure to pollutants.
2. It lightens up dark spots / reduces pigmentation due to skin damage.
3. It reduces oxidative stress, and
4. It speeds up wound healing.
Proven with scientific facts, Alpha-lipoic acid is indeed beneficial for our overall health. That is why we suggest that people should consume Japonesa ® Total Well-being, Immuno boost & Beauty Capsule powered with Setria ® L-Glutathione, Alpha Lipoic Acid & Sodium Ascorbate using Zeal Technology, supplement regularly since it contains enough ALA for every capsule that will surely give our body the strength and protection we need as we continue to exist in an unpredictable and ever-changing world!
See you next ish!

Sunlight is essential to many living things; from trees, plants, animals, and even humans. As we all know, our bodies are built to make good use of the sun in order for us to perform well daily. With sunlight, it allows us to naturally generate the production of vitamin D needed by our body, boost our immune system, lighten our mood, reduce stress, and even support our bone health. That being said, it is true that we get numerous beneficial effects from sunlight. But it also has a dangerous side especially when we are exposed to it for more than the necessary time. As the saying goes, “too much of anything is bad” and sunlight is definitely not an exception.
Once the pigment responsible for our natural protection from the sun known as melanin could no longer withstand the amount of UV rays entering our skin due to sunlight exposure, these dangerous rays will penetrate into the deeper layers of our skin which may damage or kill our skin cells. Skin damage is one of the most detrimental problems caused by too much exposure from the sun and it may last for a long time if required attention and treatment is not given immediately. Some of the commonly known signs for skin damage are uneven/darker complexion, reddish clumps, and sunburn, which will normally heal for a short period of time. However, long-term effects may also occur such as having wrinkles, dark freckles, and a tight/leathery skin that makes our appearance look much older than our age or also called as “premature aging”.
On the bright side, these damaging effects can be lessened through the use of probiotic skin care products. Probiotics are also known as the “good bacteria” inside our bodies which eliminates harmful bacteria and maintain our optimal health. Experts recently discovered that probiotics does not only help in resolving our digestive system issues, but it can also be effective in treating some skin conditions like eczema, outbreaks, dryness, and premature aging.
According to Dr. Whitney Bowe, NYC-based dermatologist, “probiotics from probiotic soaps acts as a shield against harmful bacteria as it simply removes debris and replenishes the skin with good bacteria to continue fighting off any invaders”.
JAPONESA is a skin care brand in the Philippines that scientifically formulates, produces, and distributes products that are based mainly with Probiotic + Prebiotic, infused with additional more unique blends of natural active ingredients made with Japanese technology in order to achieve a derma-like skin without a treatment. In addition, it has all of these components essential to provide nutrition not only to epidermis level, but also into dermis level of your skin:
1. Lactoferrin – which has anti-microbial properties aiding the removal of acne and other bacterial infections.
2. Glutathione – responsible for skin whitening and lightening.
3. Collagen – that works well with potent liquid Glutathione, in charge of rebuilding the cells beneath the surface of the skin.
By these, JAPONESA minimizes the appearance of pores and gently exfoliates dead skin, to remove all impurities caused by pollution, the food we eat, and stress which leaves you with a much glowing and younger-looking skin.
All of JAPONESA products are paraben-free, cruelty-free, preservative-free, sulfate-free, eco-friendly, non gmo, 100% of natural origins and FDA Approved which assure customers that they will consistently get the best quality of skin care products with no doubts or second thoughts in their minds. With JAPONESA, there will be no worries because you can always have fun under the sun!
]]>Glutathione is best known for its skin lightening effect on the skin. However, despite the fact of its main selling point, there is so much we should know about this special ingredient. Primarily, Glutathione is our body’s defense against free radicals and critical for our immune system (basic for regeneration of Vitamin C & E), this is the reason why we need enough of this natural detoxifier. Furthermore, Glutathione is involved in many processes in the body, including tissue building and repair, and making chemicals and proteins needed in the body.
Men and women, who want to whiten their skin turn to Glutathione without knowing that it can do more, for instance, enough supply of Glutathione can work as a protection against oxidative stress, which plays a key role in aging and the development of many diseases (such an amazing ingredient), that is why a lot of Filipinos turned their attention at least once or twice in buying #skincare products with Glutathione, but what if there is a product who can give you that skin whitening side-effect, #glowup (dermalike-skin), and a healthier body that will support the immune system that will help you reduce the chances of contracting COVID_19?

]]>Staying active can positively impact your overall health and well-being so it won’t be a surprise when we say that it also influences your skin. That is why, for this ish, we made sure we can give you workout and skincare tips rolled into one.
We talked to our current users and asked them if they can share their workout routines, and we’re amazed at the simple yet effective routine shared by Joselle R. Orfrecio, 35, Cabin Crew. Since we’re reducing contact and an actual interview is close to impossible, one of our Marketing Associates invited her to a Zoom workout and interview session that worked very well for both of them, here’s how it went:
Right after the cute introductions, Joselle made a quick reminder to everyone, “First, remove your makeup”, “makeup will clog your pores that might lead to breakouts and blemishes”,“consider looking for the perfect mild makeup remover and cleanse your face using Japonesa ® Probiotic soap”, she continued.
Here are two routines Joselle shared that you might want to do.
Exercise Routine at Home:
Exercise Routine (Park): Joselle mentioned that “You can go for a combination of 3 km run, that starts and ends with a 1km each slow-paced walking” Though, we’d like to be very specific that you should perform a 3-5 minute stretch-routine before your jog.
Along with the exercise routine, our Marketing Team created a quick after workout skincare routine perfect to achieve that glowing skin.
Tip 1. Get out of your workout clothes right after your workout to avoid trapping oil and dead skin next to your skin.
Tip 2. Wash your face, ASAP with a soap that has Lactoferrin (no other option is best other than Japonesa® soap).
Tip 3. Don’t skip that post-workout shower using Japonesa ® soap as it not only gets you clean but protects you from breakouts. (Avoid scrubbing, as post-workout skin is delicate and prone to micro-abrasions).
Here’s a final word from our fitness inspo, “Exercise has shown positive impact to my mental health too and known to reduce the stress that is why I’d like to recommend a regular exercise routine perfect for your lifestyle and of course follow the post-workout routine by Japonesa ® to avoid skin issues, and of course achieve that #glowup that you’ve been wanting for a very long time”, ends Joselle.

There is no best time to be reminded of mom’s efforts and superhero qualities other than May. It is again that time of the year where we go the extra mile to make her feel special but what if we can provide a 21-day guide to #selfcare forcing it to become a habit.
Here’s a list of #selfcare ideas perfect for the next 21 days. (Caution: Sons and daughters should be very creative in doing the activities below, but trust us we’ll ensure we’re leaving so much information for you.)
Day 1. Do that exercise routine with her.
Whether an exercise routine or stretching, this is the time of the year perfect to start with that moving activity. You can hire an online Personal Trainer or just follow that online exercise video and enjoy the rhythm with her. Another way of moving is to practice Yoga, build that skill by starting today.
Check out: Leslie Sansone’s Walk At Home program on YouTube.
Day 2. Prepare healthy snacks.
Sure she did very well in ensuring that every morsel of snack you consume is perfect for your health, this time it is your turn to make her extra-special by preparing satisfying Yoghurt Smoothies and Low-Calorie Cookies perfect during an afternoon of chill-out session during your WFH breaks.
Check out: 14 Healthy Snacks for Super-Busy Moms
Day 3. Sponsor an online Kamustahan with her siblings or host a Game Night with her kumares.
Maintaining her social connections is an integral part of self-care, but extra challenging during the time of COVID_19, thus you can be extra “creative”. Call her siblings and schedule a surprise Zoom meeting or put her kumare’s online, don’t forget to sponsor a few snacks delivered beforehand to make the session more interesting.
Day 4: Watch feel-good movies with her on Netflix.
You might be doing this alone or with friends most of the time to unwind but this one is definitely for keeps. Redecorate your entertainment area with cool stuff (be creative), prepare some cheese popcorns, diffuse a Movie Night Blend: Grapefruit, Cedarwood, Eucalyptus, & Peppermint, and dive into Julia Robert’s heartwarming flick ‘Wonder’.
Day 5: Be her garden assistant for a day
She might be the ultimate #Plantita and you don’t have the time to go check on her plants since the fad started. Today is that day to give her a hand and work on your #EarthSkills (watch The 100 on Netflix), buy one, just one, the special plant you’ve been wanting to add to her collection, give it to her along with additional fertilizers, a new cutesy watering can, and 30 minutes of your morning time to chat with her and listen while she tries to introduce you to all her plant babies.
Day 6: Create that family vacation journal
I guess you’re now dreaming to see Disneyland in Florida again, but I’m sure you had a lot of photos during your last vacation, this is the perfect timing to arrange them for a collage. Go and visit Shopee or Lazada for all the crafting materials and arrange that afternoon tea with her.
Day 7: Complete a puzzle.
As old as it may sound, completing a Jigsaw puzzle is one thing she’d be very happy to do with you. Pull out that puzzle box you started ditching since you were 10 and turn one afternoon into a “Puzzle Day”. Don’t forget the cookies, Sweetheart!
Day 8: Treat her to a hand or scalp massage.
Give her At Home printed Gift Certificates that will make her eligible for a free hand or scalp massage. Turn on the spa music, diffuse some Lavender Oils, and be ready to make those hands work! Don’t forget the relaxing tea right after the massage.
Tell her she can’t go to the local spa to claim those certificates, HAHA!
Day 9: Turn her bedroom to her most favorite tourist destination
Start by asking her about her most favorite trip or a place where she wants to be right after the pandemic, then secretly sneak into her bedroom and recreate the place by playing some background music (it can be the serene music of the Maldives or a night in Paris), turning your TV monitor as a backdrop, and don’t forget the delicious snacks! (We’re guessing macaroons)
Day 10. Carve out time for her to be alone and make sure there are no distractions.
This might sound easy but mind you the hardest because you should either keep Dad away or make him sleep in the Guest Room. Caution: Don’t make her feel that she’s quarantined.
Day 11. Find time to uplift her senses.
Surprise her by lighting scented candles, diffuse her favorite essential oil, or just brew her favorite blend of coffee.
Day 12: Start a Journal Day with mom.
Go online and shop for two nice pads or notebook and start writing about the things you love about each other, then the places you want to visit soon, then write each other a love letter and keep it for some time and go over it every time you seem to have lost the reason for loving your mom (this section is a bit melodramatic but it made some real sense, ayt?). Then as the last direction, tell her to write in this journal every night or at least every time she feels like there is a need to.
Day 13: Play her favorite music
Is it their wedding song or maybe the song your Dad used to serenade her (not the barrio harana ofc’), or maybe you can play some Stevie Wonder’s hit or stay with “I Just Called To Say I Love You”. Get the playlist working on your Apple Music one morning and allow her to enjoy the #throwback.
Find out what will make her kilig: https://bzfd.it/3b0XuEV
Day 14: Host a 70s inspired Dance Night at home
This is one of the activities that may require Dad’s help, ask him to invite her to a Dance Night (don’t expect Dad to create that classy invitation, which will require both of them to dress up). Ask your siblings and Angels (kasambay’s) to help out during the preparation: Music, Food, and General Ambience. Surely, this night will be memorable!
Day 15: Take up that ‘SAY NO’ challenge Online Shopping edition for 60 minutes
May it be Zalora or BeautyMNL, have her go online shopping for her favorite outfits and skincare products. Don’t forget to ask your richer siblings to contribute because you might end up broke after this activity.
Don’t forget this link beautymnl.com/brands/japonesa
Day 16: Treat her to a breakfast in bed
It may sound easy peasy, but let me remind you that you have to start crawling in the Kitchen as early as 4:00 am because moms usually wake up at 5:00 am. So this may require a few days out of Netflix binging and go directly to bed right after 10:00 pm. Hey, please make sure the Pancakes will look fluffy, Pleaseeeee!
Day 17: A walk in the park
As simple as it may seem but, but let us take it a bit further by asking the local café to surprise her with her favorite blend of coffee, a nice cut of bread, and a Thank you Mom card, all after that quick walk-in the park.
Safety precautions: Wear your mask, face shield, and bring a bottle of sanitizer.
Day 18: Give her the gift of MOISTURE!
Oh, we almost forgot that we’re selling Self Care pouches on Shopee! This mother’s day our first 25 buyers who will buy a minimum of P660 will get a FREE SELFCARE POUCH!
Will the pouch provide moisture? Of course not, it is what's inside the pouch. Japonesa® bar soap is handmade, and every handmade soap has Glycerin keeping your skin hydrated after every use.
Day 19: Take care of her down under too!
Don’t forget that women like your Mom require an excellent Feminine Wash and we don’t have to mention that we’re giving it a discounted rate on BeautyMNL.
Here’s the link, it's now P 396 (hurry!)
Japonesa Feminine Wash with Probiotic + Prebiotic
FEATURES
Day 20: Milk Bath, Oh! What a good day to be a Mom!
We’re almost there! Treat her with a nice warm milk bath. Here’s how.
How to create a milk bath:
Keep the other ¼ in a clean towel for lather, please don’t forget to diffuse Frankincense
Essential Oil, lit up some candles, and turn on relaxing moods or for something extra, play AFFIRMATIONS.
We might have failed to mention that you can also buy Japonesa® on Lazada, just search for the keyword “JAPONESA” or simply click this link: https://s.lazada.com.ph/s.XzfP2
Day 21: Start again with Day 1 ❤️
Make your mom happy every single day! See you next ish!
1-Collagen provides that youthful and glowing appearance: Collagen is in charge of that #GlowUp Instagram photo-worthy of that #viral post-entry of the year.
Collagen keeps our skin plump providing that youthful glow (we can’t stop reiterating), though our bodies naturally produce Collagen, it begins to deplete by the time we hit our mid-20s, making us prone to wrinkles and skin aging. For this very reason, a lot of commercial soaps are using Collagen as part of their formulation and we can’t blame you if you’ll go further to drinking Collagen supplements. However, what if we can do all those with only several trips to the shower room?
We’re sure that you wanted that glowing youthful skin without a filter and YES, it is possible in just 7-days. (We’re not kidding, just 7 days!)
We’re using plant-based Collagen in our skincare products: Plant-based collagen boosters are packed with anti-aging compounds known as flavonoids, which work to produce firmer and smoother skin. It is also important to know that our Plant-Based Collagen supports the overall wellness of your skin cells.
2-Collagen provides that hydrated and healthier skin: You need that youthful glow (and we already know that) but you also need to maintain hydrated skin, a brighter skin tone and protect it from free radicals.
Go for a soap that will technically provide you with everything your skin needs to promote Collagen production that connects to healthier skin (and we will no longer keep you from waiting, here’s a secret we’ve been hiding for a very long time).
Triple Hit Combo: Glutathione, Plant-Based Collagen, and Probiotics: Between free radicals and the unavoidable effects of ageing, maintaining beautiful and healthy skin is such a feat. Luckily, our combination can help you with improving your skin health. First, Glutathione (GSH) can regulate melanin production for a brighter skin tone (here’s a secret our potent liquid formula works well with our Plant-Based Collagen, yielding better results). Second, our Plant-Based Collagen provides moisture by improving over-all skin health and promoting hydration within the skin cells. Finally, Probiotics can help maintain the pH balance of your skin and protect it against free radicals.
3-Collagen can promote healthy skin cells: We’ve mentioned Plant-Based Collagen as an ingredient of our soap, but do you know what exactly are we using?
We’re using Filipino Okra or Lady’s Fingers in all our skincare products, to provide you with that healthy, hydrated, rejuvenated, and youthful glowing skin. Don’t forget that Okra is also a great source of Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Folate, Calcium, and Protein that promotes skin health.
LASTLY... How about, glowing, hydrated, and healthy skin plus #guiltfree beauty, only sustainable brands can provide?
We asked our CEO and Cosmetic Scientist, MJ Jamias if how did she took our Collagen game to the next level: “As one of the Filipino brands using plant-based Collagen and the first to use Okra or Lady’s Finger, Japonesa ® is not only effective but it also stands to support the highest levels of sustainable practices, making us worthy of our Earth Day tagline, #BetterPlanet”, ends Jamias.
See you next ish!
Time to love #lokal
We’re not saying you should avoid using imported beauty products, we’re saying you should STOP buying them, at least for the sake of mother earth and our local workforce. According to bbc.com, the airline industry contributes to 5% of global warming with around 2.4% of global CO2 emissions, although there are efforts for achieving carbon-neutral growth and reducing 50% of net emissions by 2050, we’re very sure you should hear what else loving locally products can do promote green beauty while taking care of our local workforce. Locally produced products will reach your doorstep without too much carbon footprint (as items are shipped by land, but we want to go a bit further here), plus the fact that it also employs the local workforce, making you an advocate of helping people within your community, Our Action Point: With this in mind, we opened our reseller program just this month to support Filipinos who want to open their online shop catering to their local community. That is mainly the reason why we’d like to promote getting resellers in every city and town, making it easier for the products to reach you while supporting your neighbors.
Love brands who also love your fur babies #CrueltyFree
To further elaborate, a huge number of dogs and cats are used for animal experiments, specifically Beagles because of their docile nature (crueltyfreekitty.com) Animal Testing isn’t necessary, and it can be completely avoided. There is no reason for brands to test on animals because even if they can complete the tests it does not guarantee safety for human consumption, plus the fact that there are safer ingredients that will not require testing or probably use of a different testing approach.
Finally, when you opt for products not tested on animals you’re also ditching parabens, sulfates, and synthetic dyes, making your skincare soap way better for your skin.
Our Action Point: Japonesa ® does not and never did make any animal tests, not to mention that we have been using 100% all-natural and plant-based ingredients since Day 1. Plant-based, it is!
Go #handmade and avoid Commercial Soaps (we’re so serious about this)
Skincare products wash down your drain and into the local waterways, eventually entering the aquatic ecosystems.
Our current research allowed us to realize that most commercial soaps use phosphate to produce their bars (seriously?). Yes, phosphate are chemicals containing phosphorus and they affect water quality by causing excessive growth of algae, plus this chemical creates imbalances and destroys life forms, and produces harmful toxins.
Our Action Point: As mentioned above Japonesa ® is made of 100% all-natural ingredients and it is handmade. Making it a green beauty alternative.
We have shared several action points that we have been doing up to the present, but this April 22, 2021, we are inviting you to be eco-conscious and choose products like Japonesa ® by availing of our special earth day discount.

How stress affects your skin, the science behind it.
There are several skin issues that stress can exacerbate like Psoriasis, Atopic Dermatitis, and Acne to name a few, for this blog we will discuss each one of them briefly and try to find out if there is evidence linking them to stress.
First on our list is Psoriasis, which is an autoimmune disease characterized by the presence of abnormal skin, that is usually red or purple, it is stated that Psoriasis is triggered by environmental factors and is somehow genetically linked. Further into the discussion, according to the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry ‘Stress has been reported in 44% of patients before the initial flare of psoriasis, and recurrent flares have been attributed to stress in up to 80% of individuals’.
Moving forward, Atopic Dermatitis is not caused by emotional stress but can provoke symptoms. According to healthline.com, “the body releases a hormone called cortisol when under stress. In large doses, such as when dealing with chronic and ongoing stress, cortisol increases inflammation throughout the body. This can lead to skin inflammation and an eczema flare”.
Last on our list, is A C N E, though there are several contradictions with the claim of connecting stress to acne flare-ups, here’s literature from Stanford University, they found that college students had acne flare-ups during exams, a period in which they reported more stress, compared to periods without testing (Archives of Dermatology, 2003). Although we should be clear that stress does not directly cause acne, but it is the overproduction of oil then clog pores (Zeichner, 2020), the stress in connection pushes our body to overproduce cortisol, which stimulates oil glands to go crazy!
Dealing with stress and your #skin problems
We have mentioned that acne can be resolved by Lactoferrin in our soap but, hold your horses because a combination of Lactoferrin and Probiotics in one soap is the “real grail” in bacterial management on your skin. According to our #skinexpert MJ Jamias, CEO/ FOUNDER of MARIA JAINELI SKINCARE COMPANY INC. and a Research Cosmetic Scientist of Japonesa Brand, “Probiotics ward off harmful bacteria and keeps your skin at its optimal health”. “Probiotics added to Japonesa® simply remove bacteria side by side with Lactoferrin, while Probiotics replenish the skin with good bacteria to continue fighting the invaders”, she continued. Although, we should bear in mind that extreme skin conditions should always be taken care of, by skin doctors.
But, we also know that you are expecting information coming from us on how to DEAL with stress, to at least avoid ‘skin problems’ or minimize them in the future. Here’s a short message from Avy Acosta, Licensed Psychologist at Ateneo Bulatao Center and Faculty at Ateneo de Manila University, Psychology Department, “Honor yourself. Give your body what it needs. If it needs sleep, give it sleep. If it needs a break, give it a break. If it needs to rest give yourself time to rest. If it needs to cry, give it space to cry. Your self will thank you for giving it space to just be 😊”.
Truly, an inspiring message from Avy, and another informative discussion from MJ.
That ends another ish, See you soon!

We are all shocked with the recent announcement of the guidelines that are not considered as lockdown (at least based on available literature). Most of us are frustrated and may feel negative about our current situation. However, there is one thing we all can do to benefit our ‘stay at home routine’. By achieving a younger looking skin during this period.
Aging skin
Why, o why?
We all dream of maintaining our younger-looking skin but unfortunately aging is an unavoidable fact of life. There are some reasons why our skin ages prematurely. First and ultimately the biggest factor is our LIFESTYLE. Over time, our bad diet leads to decreased cellular repair that decreases the production of both collagen and elastin. Our skin begins to look dehydrated, wrinkled, and generally unhealthy. Just like a bad diet, smoking allows poisonous chemicals being delivered to our body, restricts blood flow and prevents Oxygen and Vitamins from being delivered to the skin.
Finally, exposure to UVA & UVB rays stimulates the production of melanin in our skin, causing an increase in pigmentation, which is characterized by ‘skin tan’. Excessive exposure to both UVA and UVB breakdowns collagen leading to fine lines, sun spots, and a more leathery skin texture. Based on numerous clinical studies, Collagen plays a very important role in maintaining or achieving that younger-looking skin.
Switch to the real deal.
Living in the metro and in a tropical country, we are unable to avoid the sunshine, air pollution, stress and to a certain extent, we delay the start of the diet that we always write in our new year’s resolutions. These factors cause our skin to age prematurely. If you are expecting a rigid skincare regimen would prevent the premature skin aging, you are MISTAKEN BIG TIME!
The visible sign of skin aging is when the skin becomes less firm and tends to lose its elasticity. Which leads to the development of fine lines and wrinkles. This is when COLLAGEN is needed. As an essential protein found in our skin, it plays a very important role in ensuring that our skin remains smooth and firm.
This made us so curious on how we can educate our readers in finding the product that will make their skin younger in just 7-days, and we know just the person who can give us the #skincare solution, our Research Cosmetic Scientist, MJ Jamias.
MJ told us how every Japonesa® soap was made.
“Our Japonesa Soap is the only one brand in the market that has 100% plant-based Collagen from the extracts of Okra (Lady Finger) with Liposomal Technology. Each ingredients is unique, like glutathione liquid and Colostrum which produces Lactoferrin active. This active prevent inflammation of the skin and lessen skin problems like rashes, acne, eczema and psoriasis. The Star Ingredient of the Japonesa Soap is The Live PROBIOTICS, the one that maintains the microbiome of the skin. The base formulation is composed of 100% virgin materials like real oil and not from used and crude synthetic oils. The scent we use is from Real Vanilla Extract with the combination of proprietary blend of Essential Oils. Bubbles and lather (organic Surfactants) that were extracted from the natural amino acid of a plant.
This is why Japonesa®” is very unique.
Every Ingredients have very small molecules that can penetrate and easily absorbed by our skin. (Liposomal)
According to MJ, the Japonesa Soap is considered as a Skin Food. The fast-paced action of the Japonesa®’s Ingredients is the best way to maintain the health of our skin during this season of #NCR+Bubble.
]]>Kitten Zapata, Editor-in-Chief, Wedding Essentials Kitten is a go-getter. She has been the Editor-in-Chief of Wedding Essentials from the time we remember. Kitten, her team, and the wedding industry were severely affected by the lockdowns because weddings and events were either canceled or postponed. She didn't let COVID stop her from doing the things she's great at. She was the first one who went to great lengths and started doing shoots and producing content to help thrive the wedding industry. Kitten inspired us in innumerable ways but her contribution to the community during these trying times made us all believe that successful individuals have a clear vision of where they intend to go and how they will accomplish it.
Clarisse Agno-Gonzales, Nurse Macclesfield District General Hospital, United Kingdom Clarisse is determined to go beyond the call of duty. She worked in a COVID ward and ably in charge of COVID patients when the outbreak in the UK started. Clarisse is very thankful that she never caught the virus despite being directly exposed to it. What amazed us is how she touched the lives of her patients and their families, as she went on great efforts in terms of caring and making them connected.
Lianne Valentin, Celebrity & Influencer Lianne uses her voice to influence the youth by sharing God's words and providing support to her fans. She uses her time to create content about the importance of mental health and how God can help people in times of great need. We recently caught Lianne in one of her lockdown shoots and we’re so happy to hear that she made a lot of young women like her feel at rest during the stressful lockdowns. Karla Ramos, Travel Blogger & Influencer Karla uses her voice to influence her circle to support a lot of people affected by the pandemic and all other natural disasters. She was able to organize relief operations during the 2020 typhoon that hit numerous areas in Luzon. MJ Jamias , CEO/ FOUNDER of MARIA JAINELI SKINCARE COMPANY INC. and a Researcher Cosmetic Scientist of Japonesa Brand. MJ is trailblazing, as a scientist and an executive. She was the first one to introduce Probiotics in cosmetic products in the Philippines. In one of our zoom interviews she mentioned that “Even before the release of anti bacterial beauty soaps, Japonesa ® products are already developed to cater to both skincare and antibacterial requirements”. This is true to the fact that Japonesa ® soaps have Lactoferrin which has powerful anti-microbial and anti-aging properties that made it a grail.
MJ’s inspiring leadership made us all believe that there’s light at the end of the tunnel, she kept on telling all her staff that we should remain steadfast and continue with our campaigns. Today, MJ and the rest of the team are preparing for something big and we can't wait to share the good news with everyone! The aforementioned women are just a few from all the millions of moms, sisters, friends, and wives, whose stories of unwavering faith will never cease to amaze us.
These women exude competency and nurturing behavior in the time of pandemic and still manage to stay beautiful.
